The Lambton Kent District School Board is welcoming students, staff and families back for the 2025-26 school year with a message from its new director of education.
Gary Girardi, who is beginning his first year in the role, released a video Monday to mark the start of classes.
“Each first day brings excitement, anticipation and hope — the spirit of a fresh start,” Girardi said. “I’m honoured to begin my first year as your director of education, and I couldn’t be more proud to grow and learn alongside you.”
Girardi thanked students, parents, staff and community partners for their support, noting that the success of the school year depends on collaboration.
“To our youngest learners and their families, thank you for choosing LKDSB. Your children are in compassionate, capable hands,” he said. “To our educators and support staff, your dedication makes these first days possible. You inspire, protect and uplift our students every day.”
The board said it is “thrilled” to welcome students back, whether they are entering kindergarten, starting Grade 9 or returning to familiar hallways.
Girardi encouraged the school community to lead the year with “kindness, courage and collaboration.”
