Chatham-Kent seeks members for cultural plan steering committee

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is seeking community members to join a steering committee that will help guide the future of arts, culture, heritage and creative life in the region.

The committee will play a key role in shaping the municipality’s updated Cultural Plan, which will outline priorities, goals and strategies for cultural development over the next decade.

On behalf of the municipality, Audrey Ansell, director of Community Culture and Connections, encouraged residents to get involved.

“I invite applications from community members interested in joining the Cultural Plan Steering Committee,” Ansell said. “We welcome applications from individuals, community-based organizations, and businesses, so that the Cultural Plan represents a wide range of voices and experiences.”

Officials said the committee will be responsible for attending regular meetings, sharing experiences and ideas, helping to identify priorities and opportunities, shaping recommendations and reviewing draft sections of the plan. Members will also support broader community engagement efforts.

The municipality noted that while not everyone who applies will be selected for the committee, all applicants will still have the chance to participate in the cultural plan update process.

Applications are open until Sept. 12 and can be submitted through the municipality’s Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent website.
