OPP officials allege: Ontario Provincial Police say a driver has been fined after being stopped at 120 km/h in an 80 km/h construction zone on Highway 402.
The stop was made Tuesday afternoon in Lambton County as part of ongoing traffic enforcement under Operation Safe Approach. Police said the driver received a $295 fine and four demerit points. The fine would have doubled if workers had been present.
“Despite ongoing efforts, some motorists are still not getting the message,” OPP said in a statement. Officers said Operation Safe Approach will continue for the foreseeable future with active patrols and enforcement to protect motorists and workers.
Police are reminding drivers that traffic safety is everyone’s responsibility.
