OPP officials allege: Lambton County OPP charged five drivers with impaired driving offences over the holiday weekend.
On Aug. 29, shortly after 2 a.m., officers were called to the Blue Water Bridge by Canada Border Services Agency regarding a possible impaired driver. A 39-year-old from Michigan was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration above 80. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on Sept. 17.
That same day, around 11:57 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle on London Road near Lambton Mall Road in Sarnia. A 23-year-old from Warwick Township was charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration above 80. The accused is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on Oct. 6.
On Aug. 30, just before 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint on Petrolia Line near Oozloffsky Street in Petrolia. A 54-year-old from Petrolia was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and failure or refusal to comply with demand. The accused is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on Sept. 29.
Later that night, shortly after 10:15 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted on Ontario Street in Grand Bend. A 45-year-old from Brampton was charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration above 80. The accused is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on Oct. 2.
On Aug. 31, at about 6:45 p.m., members of the Walpole Island Police Service and Lambton OPP stopped a vehicle on Chiefs Road South at Walpole Island First Nation after a traffic complaint. A 36-year-old from Walpole Island First Nation was charged with several offences, including operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration above 80, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and multiple Highway Traffic Act violations. The accused is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on Oct. 2.
In each case, drivers were issued a 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.
