Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police have charged a 31-year-old man with impaired driving after a traffic complaint in Chatham.
Police said they were called to St. Clair Street on September 8 around 3:54 p.m. after a witness reported seeing a man stumbling between a garbage bin and his vehicle, disposing of empty alcohol containers before driving away.
Officers located the vehicle a short time later in the parking lot of a local business and conducted a roadside investigation. After a field sobriety test, police said they believed the man was impaired by drugs.
He was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where a drug recognition expert confirmed the impairment, according to investigators.
The man was charged with operation while impaired by drugs and released with a court date set for September 25.
