Police wrap up five-month drug investigation

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: The Sarnia Police Service says a five-month investigation into drug trafficking has led to multiple arrests and the seizure of nearly $94,000 in drugs and property.

Police said members of the Major Case Action Team, supported by the Emergency Response Team, K9 and Intelligence officers, executed three search warrants in the early morning hours of Sept. 9 at addresses on Christina Street, Confederation Street and Trudeau Drive.

As a result, several people were taken into custody and charged with drug-related offences, including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police said the investigation, dubbed “Purple Rhino,” is part of ongoing efforts to target drug trafficking in the community.

The service is encouraging anyone with information about the drug trade to contact investigators or provide anonymous tips through Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers.
