Inspection blitz in Leamington results in 22 charges for commercial drivers

OPP officials allege: Essex County OPP say 22 charges were laid during a commercial motor vehicle inspection blitz in Leamington.

On Thursday, members of the OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement unit, working with the Ministry of Transportation, checked 19 commercial vehicles on Erie Street South. While no vehicles were taken out of service, officers said charges were issued for various offences.

“Operating a CMV with major defects can be extremely dangerous to everyone out on the road. We all play a role in keeping our roadways safe,” Essex County OPP said in a statement. The detachment also thanked the ministry for its continued partnership in promoting road safety.

Police added they commend the many commercial drivers who continue to operate safely and contribute to keeping Ontario’s roads safe.
