Lambton OPP officials allege: One person has died following a motor vehicle collision on Walpole Island First Nation.
On September 13, 2025, at approximately 12:52 a.m., members of Walpole Island Police Service, Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with emergency services responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Tecumseh Road, Walpole Island First Nation.
The pedestrian, a 22-year-old resident of Wallaceburg, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.
As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old of Walpole Island First Nation, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with the following offences:
– Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
– Operation While Impaired Causing Death
– Fail to Stop at Accident Resulting in Death
– Dangerous Operation Causing Death
– Driving While Under Suspension
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.
They will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
Tecumseh Road was closed between Chiefs Road and Aquash Lane for several hours to allow for investigation and has since been reopened.
