‘Whimsical Witches of Wallaceburg’ holding a meet and greet on Sept. 20

By Dawne Mudford – Special to the Sydenham Current

The ‘Witching Season’ is fast approaching, and the ‘Whimsical Witches of Wallaceburg’ are revving up their brooms and getting ready to celebrate.

Of course, the members are not real witches, but merely fun-loving ladies who love to dress up dance and spread love and happiness.

There are those that dress in the “traditional” witch costume, while others have adopted gypsy-like and ‘steam punk’ type attire. Every ‘witch’ has their own unique style.

The ‘witches’ meet regularly to enjoy crafting things such as decorating bird houses, painting kindness rocks to distribute downtown for children to find, and of course to practice the ‘Witch Dance’ which is a choreographed dance, first performed in 2016 by the women of Wolfshager Hexenbrut which in English is ‘The Wolf Hunter’s Coven’, located in Wolfshagen in Harz, Germany.

The Whimsical Witches of Wallaceburg will be sharing the love at a ‘meet and greet’ on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fountain park in downtown Wallaceburg where they will be the performing dance.

There will be a dress up area for photo op’s, games and treats for the first 100 children.

Rain date is Sunday, September 21.

It’s a great day to bring the kids out to this free event in their own witch attire to meet the Whimsical Witches and have fun ‘dancing with witches’.
