Police arrest Chatham man after traffic incident

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 19-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a traffic-related incident in Chatham on Thursday night.

Police said a 21-year-old driver from Thamesville reported being chased by another vehicle in connection with a prior dispute. During the incident, the complainant’s vehicle was rear-ended, forced off the road and damaged. No medical assistance was required.

The suspect fled into Lambton County before being located at a gas station in Brigden by Ontario Provincial Police. The man, from Chatham, was taken into custody and transferred to the Chatham-Kent Police Service.

He is charged with uttering threats, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault with a weapon, failing to remain and failing to report. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police thanked OPP for their assistance in the investigation.
