Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 36-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing several charges after police responded to a disturbance in Chatham on Sept. 23.
Police said an argument between the man and a 28-year-old woman escalated into a physical altercation. The woman reported being assaulted and threatened. Investigators said CCTV footage showed the man approach and assault the victim. A personal item was also reported stolen.
The accused was charged with assault causing bodily harm by choking, uttering threats to cause death, theft under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime. He was also wanted on an outstanding endorsed warrant for failing to attend court on Sept. 19.
The man was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he remains in custody for a bail hearing.
