Stolen tractor-trailer damages Sarnia roundabout

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Two men have been charged after police say a stolen tractor-trailer struck and damaged a roundabout in Sarnia.

Police say the truck was moving westbound through the Cathcart Boulevard and Indian Road North roundabout around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 when it hit several armour stones and dragged them westbound on Cathcart. The driver eventually pulled over near Cathcart and Colborne Road after the trailer was damaged.

City works crews were called in to clean up the stones and repair the garden bed.

Investigators later determined the trailer and licence plate had been reported stolen in Peel Region earlier this month.

A 27-year-old man from Nobleton, Ont., and a 49-year-old man from Mississauga, Ont., were arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime, along with several traffic and bylaw offences.
