Walapolooza returns to Walpole Island with music, comedy and family fun

Walpole Island will host a two-day outdoor community concert this weekend, bringing together music, comedy and family fun in a drug- and alcohol-free setting.

Walapolooza 2025 takes place Sept. 26 and 27 at Highbanks Park, with events beginning at 3 p.m. each day. Admission is free.

Organizers say the event is designed as a safe and welcoming gathering for families to “listen to good medicine and have fun.” It is presented by the Bkejwanong Youth Council, Bkejwanong Biiweziimag Kinomaagziwad, Bkejwanong Family Well-Being, the Walpole Island Heritage Centre and other community partners.

The lineup includes performances by Stella Standingbear, Natasha Fisher, James Wilson, Eagle Blackbird, Janelle Niles and Clint Couchie of Got Land Comedy, Cam Silver, Brothers Wilde, and a showcase of Bkejwanong artists including Warren Altiman, D.J. A.R.R., Cindy Shipman, Kirk Peters, Bella Lunham, Brandon Riley, Kelly Kiyoshk, Vance Brigham, and Asineed Waboose.

Sponsors and supporters include the Bkejwanong Youth Facility, Social Services, Ontario Works, the Three Fires Women’s Shelter, and the Walpole Island Chief and Council.
