Repairs have been completed at the Chatham Water Treatment Plant following an electrical issue and problems with the backup generator that led to widespread water pressure concerns earlier this month.
The municipality said water pressure has stabilized and the plant is now treating and distributing water at full capacity. Water restrictions have been lifted.
The incident began early Sept. 21, when the Chatham Water Treatment Plant experienced an electrical issue affecting the main power feed, the municipality said in a statement at the time.
The problem was compounded when the backup generator responsible for pumping water also failed, causing water tower levels to drop and reducing pressure throughout the community.
Although the generator issue was temporarily fixed later that day, officials warned residents to conserve water while full repairs were made.
