Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre announces October programs, events and fundraisers

The Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre is kicking off October with a full schedule of programs, special events, and fundraisers. Organizers say there is something for everyone this fall.

The centre will be closed for certain dates this month. Tai Chi will not run on Oct. 1, and the WAAC and Sue’s Kitchen will be closed on Oct. 2 and Oct. 13. There will also be no VON or karaoke sessions on Oct. 13, and there are no fitness drumming classes in October.

Memberships for 2026 go on sale Oct. 1 for $55 per year. Benefits include early access to program registration and discounted member pricing. Current members who renew before Jan. 9, 2026, will save $5, and new members receive the remainder of 2025 free. All members are required to complete a new form this year, which includes an updated photography and videography waiver.

The centre will host an Older Adults Health and Wellness Fair on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oaks Retirement Village. Admission and lunch are free. Visitors can meet local health and wellness providers, participate in educational activities, and complete a short survey. The event is funded by the Older Adult Centres Association of Ontario, the Government of Ontario through the Senior Fair Grant, and the Municipality of Chatham-Kent via the Together CK Grant.

The WAAC elevator 50/50 raffle draw is set for Saturday. Tickets support the elevator fundraiser, with half of proceeds going to the winner and half to WAAC programs.

Other fall programs include a dance fitness class with Amy starting Thursday, Oct. 2, at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $3 for members and $5 for non-members. A presentation from Vivian of Service Canada on the Canada Care Dental Plan and Canada Disability Benefit will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 10:30 a.m. Registration is requested.
