Blenheim man charged after traffic complaint in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 40-year-old Blenheim man is facing multiple charges after police stopped a motorcycle travelling without a licence plate on King Street Thursday evening.

Around 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 9, officers determined the motorcycle had been reported stolen. Police say the driver also had a suspended licence, and a prohibited weapon was recovered during the arrest.

The man allegedly tried to flee and obstruct officers before being taken into custody. He was charged with obstructing and resisting a peace officer, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, three counts of driving while under suspension, driving without plates, and driving a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device.

He was released with a court date set for Nov. 18.
