Tilbury woman charged after shoplifting incident

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 39-year-old woman is facing theft and probation-related charges after an incident at a retail store in Tilbury.

Chatham-Kent police were called to a business on Mill Street West around 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 9 after a report of stolen merchandise. Police say the woman concealed items and tried to leave the store without paying.

Officers arrested the woman at the scene and determined she was bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. She was charged with theft under $5,000, possession under $5,000, and two counts of breaching a probation order.

The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where she was held for bail.
