Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Four people are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police discovered a firearm and other prohibited items during a traffic stop early Thursday.
Police were called to a disturbance on Grand Avenue West in Chatham around 12:32 a.m. on October 9. A vehicle identified at the scene fled before officers arrived, but was later located and stopped in the city.
Officers observed prohibited items inside the vehicle, prompting a search that uncovered a firearm and additional contraband.
A 39-year-old man, a 20-year-old woman, a 19-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, all from Chatham, were arrested and charged with unlawful possession and storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.
They were taken to police headquarters, where they remain in custody awaiting bail hearings.
