Man charged after threats and weapon seizure in Cedar Springs

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police have charged a 32-year-old man from Chatham-Kent following an incident in Cedar Springs on October 14.

Officers responded around 4:45 p.m. to a report of threats being made on Talbot Trail. Police say the man made verbal threats toward a 50-year-old Raleigh Township resident.

During the investigation, officers learned the accused was bound by a probation order requiring him to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. A search of the man led to the discovery of a weapon, despite him being prohibited from possessing firearms.

The man was arrested and charged with uttering threats, failing to comply with probation, and possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order. He was taken to police headquarters and held for bail.
