On, Monday, October 20, 2025, Jeffery Martin Shipman ‘Nemkii’, a member of Walpole Island First Nation passed away unexpectedly at the age of 47.
He is the loving Husband of Thi Shipman and devoted father of Anthony (Julie), Cody (Jetty), Jenica, Marcus, Pheonix, Helen, Tu and bonus father of Sky, Stella, Mackenzie and Rain. Cherished grandfather of Leonard, Leo, Amy and Hannah.
Jeff will be remembered as the beloved son of Gina (nee Williams) and the late Edward ‘Junior’ Shipman and a dear brother to Calvin (Susan), Janet (Buddy), Tammy (Rev. Dugan), Edward ‘Jute’ (Becky), Joe (Vonda), Nathan (Misty), Shaylynn (Dut), Andy (Frieda), Dalton, Lonnie, Myra (Bob) and Tina (Kennedy ‘Peebs’).
He will be fondly remembered by his numerous, nieces, nephews and extended family. Jeff was a respected member of community often acting as Fire Keeper, cooking for different events and drumming, he will be remembered as an avid fisherman and by his pool league.
Family and community are invited to gather for visitation at the Walpole Island Sports Complex beginning on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 5-8pm.
His funeral will be held at the Arena on Saturday October 25, 2025 at 1pm followed by burial at Highbanks Cemetery.
