Woman charged after assault at Chatham business

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 33-year-old Chatham-Kent woman is facing charges after an alleged assault at a business on King Street West Friday morning.

Police said officers responded around 9:40 a.m. October 31 after a report of an assault involving a trespassing incident. Investigators learned the woman had been asked to leave the premises and refused. During the confrontation, she allegedly threw an object at a 50-year-old Chatham man. Police said the victim did not require medical attention.

The woman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. Officers also learned she had recently been trespassed from the same property.

She was taken to the South West Detention Centre, where she remains in custody pending a video court appearance scheduled for November 5.
