A new year-round indoor sports facility is set to open in Chatham early next year. The Flex Plex, owned and operated by Phil Ong and his team, will bring a wide range of recreational opportunities to residents when it opens its first phase in January 2026.
Located at 450 Merritt Avenue, the CK Flex Plex will feature spaces for soccer, volleyball, basketball and other activities, with a second, larger phase planned for 2028.
“There’s something extremely exciting coming to Chatham-Kent early next year!” said Mayor Darrin Canniff. “The Flex Plex, owned and operated by Phil Ong and his team, will be an indoor sports facility located at 450 Merritt Ave. in Chatham, offering indoor soccer, volleyball, basketball and more. It will be opening in its first phase in January of 2026, with the second, much larger phase opening sometime in 2028.
“This is an amazing investment in CK and something we’ve been needing for years. A huge thanks to Phil and Don Tetrault for partnering to make this vision come to life and bringing a place for kids and adults alike to get active and have fun.”
According to CK Flex Plex Inc, the facility is designed to serve as Chatham-Kent’s central hub for sports, recreation, and connection. The multi-sport complex will offer adaptable fields, courts, and fitness areas for athletes, organizations, and families.
With a focus on accessibility and community, CK Flex Plex aims to eliminate seasonal barriers and provide consistent opportunities for active living. The project’s vision is to make sports and recreation available to everyone—regardless of age, ability, or experience—under one roof.
