Driver charged following traffic stop in Raleigh Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 54-year-old Chatham man has been charged after police say he was caught driving while under suspension.

Chatham-Kent police say the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 10 after an Automated Licence Plate Recognition alert flagged a vehicle on Merlin Road.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and found the driver was operating the vehicle while prohibited. He was charged with operation while prohibited, driving while under suspension, and failing to have an interlock device in the vehicle.

The man was issued several summonses and released with conditions and a court date set for Dec. 30. His vehicle was towed and impounded.
