Lambton OPP urges motorists to prepare for winter driving conditions

OPP officials allege: Provincial police are reminding drivers to prepare for changing road conditions as winter approaches.

The Lambton OPP said freezing temperatures, snow and reduced visibility can make driving unpredictable, increasing the risk of collisions. Officers are urging motorists to ensure their vehicles are winter-ready and to adjust their driving habits accordingly.

Police advise installing winter tires, checking the condition of your battery, and making sure wipers, lights and essential fluids are in good working order. Drivers are also encouraged to carry an emergency kit with basic supplies in case of unexpected delays.

Motorists are being reminded to slow down during poor weather, leave extra space between vehicles and clear snow and ice from all surfaces before heading out. Police say sudden braking or steering can cause a loss of control on icy roads, and planning ahead is key to safe travel.

The OPP encourages drivers to monitor weather forecasts and check road conditions through provincial resources such as 511 Ontario before starting their trip.

Police say safe winter driving begins with preparation and are asking the public to do their part to keep roads safe this season.
