Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 42-year-old Wheatley woman has been arrested on outstanding warrants following a retail theft investigation that began in September.
Police were called to a Talbot Street East store on Sept. 27 after a woman was seen placing items into bags and leaving without paying. Officers used surveillance footage to identify a suspect and formed grounds to charge her with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime. A warrant was issued, and she was also wanted for failing to attend court in a separate matter.
The woman was located on Erie Street North around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday and arrested. She was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where she remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
