Man charged in child exploitation investigation in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A months-long investigation by the Chatham-Kent Police Service’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit has led to the arrest of a Wallaceburg man accused of sharing and possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

Police say the investigation began in September 2025 after the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children reported that a Chatham-Kent resident was sharing illicit material on Snapchat and Dropbox.

On Nov. 6, members of the ICE unit executed a Criminal Code search warrant at the man’s Wallaceburg residence, seizing several electronic devices.

After analyzing those devices, police allege the man had been communicating with multiple people under the age of 16 and was in possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

A 25-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested on Nov. 19 and charged with possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material, luring a child, and making sexually explicit material available to a child.

He was held pending a bail hearing.

Police say the investigation is continuing.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service participates in the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet, working with police services across Ontario and agencies worldwide.

Investigations by the ICE unit are supported through a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
