The Chatham-Kent Public Library’s Wallaceburg branch is offering a wide range of December activities for all ages, from holiday crafts and story sessions to interactive games and seasonal challenges.
The month begins with Library Elf on the Shelf, running Dec. 1 to 23 during open hours. Visitors are invited to search the branch for Dewey the Library Elf.
Storytime sessions continue Dec. 4, 11 and 18 at 10:30 a.m., featuring stories, songs and rhymes for children 18 months and older and their caregivers. Registration is preferred but not required.
An adult holiday craft night is set for Thursday, Dec. 4 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Participants can create an acrylic holiday ornament using materials and instructions provided by library staff. Registration is required.
The branch’s monthly LEGO session takes place Saturday, Dec. 13. All ages can drop in to build with the library’s LEGO bins.
That same day, from 10 a.m. to noon, St. John Ambulance therapy dogs Bright, Wally and Sassy will visit the branch. The event is open to all ages without registration.
A Connect My Health promotion event is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., offering guidance on accessing personal health records anytime and anywhere.
Holiday Stay and Play programs will run throughout the school break. From Dec. 22 to Jan. 3, children can enjoy snowman-themed activities, including snowball challenges, “snow dough” play and a snowman craft. From Dec. 22 to 27, visitors can disguise gingerbread characters, complete a scavenger hunt and work on counting with a gingerbread matching game. From Dec. 29 to Jan. 3, activities will include crafting New Year’s Eve glasses, a scavenger hunt and exploring a sensory bin.
A Mario Kart tournament for ages 6 to 13 takes place Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. Registration is required and space is limited.
Also on Dec. 30, the library’s Spice Club meets virtually at 7:05 p.m. Kits include a sample spice, information and two recipes. Participants can register by calling 519-354-2940 or texting 519-401-7174.
The Knitting and Crochet Club continues every Thursday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Participants are welcome to share patterns, offer suggestions or learn new skills; no registration is required.
