Councillor calls for joint public meeting with local MPs and MPPs

A notice of motion from Chatham Councillor Brock McGregor will go before council Monday, proposing a public meeting between Chatham-Kent council, the mayor and local provincial and federal representatives.

McGregor pointed to a recent public session in Windsor involving council members, MPs and MPPs, and said Chatham-Kent should continue prioritizing transparency and stronger ties with other levels of government. His motion calls for inviting local MPs and MPPs to discuss current municipal issues and strengthen collaboration.

Administration supports the idea, according to Deputy CAO Dave Taylor, who noted the municipality has already been meeting regularly with provincial and federal representatives and has another meeting scheduled next month to continue those discussions.
