Man arrested on warrant after weapons seized in earlier investigation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 47-year-old Chatham man wanted in connection with a November weapons investigation was arrested Monday night after police responded to a disturbance call on Orchard Heights.

Police previously attended the man’s residence on Nov. 9 for a wellness check involving threats to harm others. Officers arrested him at the scene and seized several weapons, including a silver Crossman revolver-style air pistol, an Archery Research Desert Hawk crossbow, a Crossman F-11 .22-calibre air rifle, an antique single-shot pistol, pellets and nine arrows.

Investigators later learned the man was under court-ordered conditions imposed in May 2024 that prohibited him from possessing weapons. He was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and taken to hospital for further assessment. A warrant was issued after the investigation.

Shortly before 10 p.m. on Dec. 1, officers responding to a disturbance in Orchard Heights learned the man was wanted on the outstanding warrant. He was arrested and taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he is being held pending a bail hearing.
