Here is what they had to say about the photo:
” S.S. #17 Terminus was located on the northeast corner of the 9th Concession, Lot 21 in Sombra Township. The first ½ acre of land was bought from Wm. S. McLean of Wallaceburg for $1.00. The school started out as a frame school in the late 1800s but was destroyed by fire. The red brick school was built in 1898 and a ½ acre of land was added to the property with a new fence built around the school yard. This school cost $1300. Sunday school was held every Sunday in the school by Rev. Alfred Beatty, a Baptist minister from Wilkesport.
The school was closed for a few years in the 1950s due to low attendance and the remaining pupils were sent to S.S. #20 Unionville and S.S. #25 Busyville. The old school was painted, electricity was installed and classes began again in September 1960. The school was closed at the end of the school year in 1963 and an auction took place on October 26, 1963. The school was sold to Ken Mills for $250.”
