Sarnia Police Service officials allege: On December 8, 2025, around 9:23 p.m., police received a 9-1-1 call from a cellphone in which the caller wasn’t speaking, but call takers could hear a woman screaming and signs of a violent confrontation. The phone was traced to the Bentley Court area, though an exact address wasn’t known. Officers were dispatched and began checking nearby residences.
At one home, an adult woman came to the door visibly distressed, with injuries and blood on her clothing. A man was also seen inside with what appeared to be fresh blood on him. He was arrested immediately. The woman was treated by EMS and taken to hospital, where she received medical care and is reported to be in stable condition.
Police later determined the two are in a domestic relationship. Investigators say the woman had been assaulted shortly before officers arrived. The Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Division has taken over the case, and the scene was held for a warrant and forensic work.
A 56-year-old Sarnia man has been held for bail on charges that include attempted murder, assault causing bodily harm, assault by choking, forcible confinement and uttering threats. His name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
Police urge anyone experiencing intimate partner violence to seek help. In an emergency, call 9-1-1. For non-emergency matters, contact Sarnia police at 519-344-8861.
