Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man is facing impaired driving charges after police stopped a vehicle with a partially lit rear licence plate light on Tuesday night.
A Chatham-Kent police officer was patrolling around 8:11 p.m. on Dec. 10 when the westbound vehicle was spotted on Richmond Street. The traffic stop took place a short time later on Merritt Avenue.
Police say the 49-year-old driver showed signs of impairment and was also unable to provide valid documentation. He was taken to headquarters for breath testing, where he provided a sample over the legal limit. He was charged with impaired operation, improper number plate light and failing to surrender an insurance card. He was released with a court date of Dec. 30, 2025.
