Former NHL legends to face Law Enforcement All Stars in Lakeshore charity game

Local hockey fans will get a chance to see NHL legends back on the ice as Essex County Ontario Provincial Police take on former NHL players in a charity exhibition game. The matchup takes place Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre in Belle River.

The special event features end-to-end rushes, dazzling dekes and powerful slap shots as NHL Alumni take on the Law Enforcement All Stars, promising nonstop excitement for fans. Organizers say the game offers a chance to reignite old rivalries while enjoying a competitive but fun-filled atmosphere.

This year’s NHL Alumni Benefit Tour includes legendary players such as goalie Adam Munro, Dave Hutchison, Zack Kassian, Kraig Nienhuis, Zenon Konopka, Jordan Nolan, Keith Acton, Bryan Muir, Rob Schremp, Theo Peckham and Mike Krushelnyski.

The event supports Special Olympics Ontario and the Law Enforcement Torch Run, whose mission is “to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities.” Proceeds from the game allow staff and volunteers to focus on the athletes while raising funds for programs and initiatives.

Doors open at 1 p.m., with puck drop at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance at any OPP detachment, $25 online, or $30 at the door. Children under three are admitted free, and seniors and children under 12 can purchase tickets for $20.

The Atlas Tube Recreation Centre is located at 447 Renauld Line Rd, Belle River. Fans can visit www.benefithockey.com for more details.
