Firefighters from Chatham Fire Station No. 2 visited students at Ursuline College Chatham this week to share information about careers in the fire service.
The visit included small-group discussions with 23 students, who had the opportunity to ask firefighters interview-style questions about their experiences and responsibilities on the job.
Firefighters spoke about what inspired them to pursue careers in firefighting, as well as training and career pathways, daily responsibilities and the challenges and rewards of serving the community.
The small-group format allowed students to hear firsthand experiences from firefighters while recording responses as part of a learning activity focused on careers, communication and community service.
Chatham Fire Station No. 2 said it appreciated the opportunity to connect with students and help encourage interest in public safety and community involvement.
