Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A man is facing a charge after police responded to a report of a possibly impaired driver in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police say officers were called to a restaurant on St. Clair Street at about 2:38 a.m. on Dec. 27, 2025. Staff reported concerns about a driver and delayed the vehicle until police arrived.
Police say the driver was read an Approved Screening Device demand and refused to comply. A 24-year-old man from Chatham-Kent was arrested and charged with refusal to comply with a demand. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions. A court appearance has been scheduled for Feb. 3, 2026.
