Fatal New Year’s Eve crash in Corunna under investigation

OPP officials allege: Ontario Provincial Police are continuing to investigate a fatal single-vehicle collision in Corunna that claimed the life of a local resident and led to a temporary road closure late Wednesday night.

On December 31, 2025, at approximately 10:45 p.m., members of the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, along with St. Clair Township Fire Department and Lambton Emergency Medical Services, responded to a report of a collision on Bentinck Street. Police say a passenger vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

A 20-year-old individual from Corunna was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bentinck Street was closed between Cameron Street and Moore Street for several hours to allow officers to conduct their investigation. The roadway has since reopened, and police thanked the public for their patience and cooperation during the closure.

The collision remains under investigation by Lambton OPP with assistance from the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team.
