Residents are being invited to skate into the weekend as free public skate sessions return to arenas across Chatham-Kent, supported by local community partners.
On Friday, Jan. 2, free skate opportunities will be offered throughout the afternoon at several locations, including Dresden Arena from 3:30 to 5 p.m. with sponsorship from the Professional Engineers Ontario Chatham Kent Chapter, Chatham Memorial Arena from 1:30 to 3 p.m. sponsored by Salus Mutual Insurance, and Ridgetown Arena from 2 to 3:30 p.m. supported by CK Promoting Healthy Living. Additional Friday sessions will take place at Bothwell Arena from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena from 1:30 to 3 p.m., both sponsored by CK Promoting Healthy Living, as well as at Chatham Erickson Arena from 4 to 5:30 p.m. with support from CK Kiwanis. Wheatley Arena will also host a free skate from noon to 1:30 p.m. with sponsorship from CK Promoting Healthy Living.
Free skating continues on Saturday, Jan. 3, with sessions at Bothwell Arena from noon to 1:30 p.m. and at Blenheim Arena from 7:30 to 9 p.m., both sponsored by CK Promoting Healthy Living.
On Sunday, Jan. 4, skaters can take to the ice at Chatham Memorial Arena from 10 to 11:30 p.m. with support from the Professional Engineers Ontario Chapter. Ridgetown Arena will host a session from noon to 1:30 p.m. sponsored by New to You, while Dresden Arena will offer a free skate from 1 to 2:30 p.m. sponsored by the Catherine McVean Chapter IODE. Additional Sunday sessions include Chatham Thames Campus Complex from 1 to 2:30 p.m. with sponsorship from St. Clair College, Tilbury Memorial Community Centre from 1 to 2:30 p.m. supported by CK Promoting Healthy Living, Wallaceburg Memorial Arena from 2 to 3:30 p.m. with support from an anonymous donor in support of children’s activities, and Wheatley Area Complex from 2 to 3:30 p.m., also sponsored by CK Promoting Healthy Living.
The free skate schedule wraps up on Monday, Jan. 5, with a session at Wheatley Arena from 1 to 2 p.m., sponsored by CK Promoting Healthy Living.
