Impaired driver arrested at Bluewater Bridge following CBSA referral

OPP officials allege: An impaired driving investigation at the Bluewater Bridge has resulted in charges against a Sarnia man, according to the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.

Police say that on Dec. 29, 2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m., OPP officers were requested to attend the Bluewater Bridge by the Canada Border Services Agency in relation to a possible impaired driver. As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old man from Sarnia was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

A 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as required by statute. The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on Jan. 22, 2026.

Police are reminding the public to report suspected impaired drivers by contacting the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, dialing *OPP on a mobile device, or calling 911 in an emergency, noting that timely reports can help keep roads safer for everyone.
