Impaired driving charges laid in Lambton

OPP officials allege: An Ilderton man is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic stop conducted by the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police in Grand Bend.

Police say that on Dec. 29, 2025, shortly after 2:30 a.m., an officer conducting general patrol stopped a vehicle on Lake Road. As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old man from Ilderton was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

A 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as required by statute. The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on Feb. 10, 2026.

The Lambton County OPP says it remains committed to removing impaired drivers from the road through enforcement and public education. Police are reminding drivers that no amount of alcohol or drugs is safe when operating a vehicle and are encouraging the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
