There will be two new faces representing Wallaceburg on Municipality of Chatham-Kent Council after the 2026 election.
In separate New Year’s Day posts on social media by both elected officials, Carmen McGregor and Aaron Hall announced they wouldn’t be seeking re-election.
“Is it a resolution? Maybe… but not in the traditional sense,” McGregor wrote on her personal Carmen McGregor ART Facebook page.
“This year, I am choosing intention over pressure. Instead of setting strict resolutions, I am giving myself permission to grow gently with curiosity, creativity, and a little grace. I am stepping into a new season of life: wrapping up 23 years in public service and leaning more fully into my art, my teaching, and building a creative community that feels welcoming and real.”
McGregor added: “This does not mean I have everything figured out. It means I am choosing joy over perfection, direction over deadlines, and space to evolve.”
Hall’s January 1, 2026 message held a similar sentiment
“Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great holiday season and is filled with hope and excitement leading into 2026,” he wrote.
“This year will mark my final year as a Municipality of Chatham-Kent Councillor, representing my hometown of Wallaceburg. It has been an honour to serve the community since 2018. I’m filled with thanks and gratitude as this new chapter begins.”
Hall added: “Be kind to each other and have an amazing year.”
McGregor was first elected to Chatham-Kent Council in 2014 and is currently serving her third consecutive term. Prior to serving on Council, McGregor spent several years serving as a school board trustee for the Lambton-Kent District School Board.
Hall was first elected to Chatham-Kent Council in 2018 and is currently serving his second straight term representing Ward 5.
Both McGregor and Hall were acclaimed to their positions in the 2022 Municipal election, as no other residents ran against them.
The next Municipal election is Monday, October 26, 2026.
Municipal officials say specific information about voting methods, voting locations, advance polls and candidate information will be made available in early 2026.
