Man charged following indecent act investigation in Point Edward

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Sarnia police have concluded an investigation into an indecent act reported at a local retail business last fall.

In November 2025, members of the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Division began investigating an incident at a retail store in the area of London Road and Finch Drive. Police said a female customer reported that an unknown man approached her inside the store and exposed himself. The customer removed herself from the situation and notified store staff.

Following continued investigation, officers identified a suspect. On Jan. 3, 2026, investigators, assisted by the Emergency Response Team, uniform patrol officers and the Identification Branch, executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence on Michigan Avenue in Point Edward.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old man from Point Edward has been charged with indecent act under the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Sarnia police are encouraging anyone who witnesses or experiences suspicious or inappropriate behaviour to report it promptly, noting that timely reporting plays an important role in community safety and successful investigations.
