Three arrested after armed home invasion in Sarnia

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Three people have been arrested following an armed home invasion in Sarnia that prompted a distressed 9-1-1 call in the early morning hours of Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026.

Sarnia Police Service say officers were dispatched at about 12:45 a.m. to an open-line 9-1-1 call in the 300 block of Davis Street. During the call, dispatchers could hear a distressed female voice pleading for help. The caller was unable to speak directly with dispatch but was overheard saying, “We don’t have anything here.”

Police say the exact location of the call was initially unclear and was narrowed to several nearby residences. Officers immediately responded to the area and began checking multiple homes. With the phone line still open, communications operators could hear officers knocking and calling out, which allowed them to identify the correct residence.

Due to concerns for the safety of the occupants, officers entered the home and located the victims, who directed police to a rear room. Officers announced their presence and called out, at which point three adult males emerged and were taken into custody without incident.

The victims, a 27-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man who live at the residence, were shaken but not physically injured.

Investigators determined the suspects had followed one of the residents into the home before entering. Police say the suspects were wearing ski masks and gloves and demanded cash and valuables while threatening the occupants with what appeared to be firearms.

Police learned the suspects attempted to flee once they became aware officers were nearby. They ran toward the rear of the home and tried to escape through a back window, removing their masks and gloves and discarding the firearms, which were later determined to be imitation weapons. The items were recovered and seized.

As a result of the investigation, three adult males were charged with multiple Criminal Code offences related to robbery, break and enter, disguise with intent, and weapons offences. Two of the accused were also charged with breaching court-ordered conditions. Following bail hearings, all three were remanded into custody.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact Sarnia police or Crime Stoppers.
