The Lambton Kent District School Board says it is closely monitoring a weather system expected to bring significant snowfall to the Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent regions, with impacts possible into Monday, Jan. 26.
In a notice issued Friday, the board said the system is forecast by Environment Canada to arrive Sunday, Jan. 25, and could affect transportation the following day. To help students, families and staff plan ahead, the LKDSB has shared its exam-continuity plan in the event that school buses are cancelled anywhere in the district on Monday.
The board emphasized that decisions will not be made on a school-by-school basis. If buses are cancelled in any zone, the same plan will apply across the entire district. A final decision on bus cancellations will be made early Monday morning in consultation with CLASS Student Transportation Services and communicated to families and staff as soon as it is confirmed.
If buses are cancelled on Monday, Period A exams will be moved to Tuesday, Jan. 27. The schedule for the remaining Period B, C and D exams will be shared with staff, students and families Monday afternoon.
The board acknowledged the challenges weather-related disruptions can cause and thanked families, students and staff for their flexibility. The LKDSB said student and staff safety remains its top priority, adding that sharing the plan in advance is intended to provide clear expectations and allow time to prepare for either outcome.
