The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has launched its 2026 Snow Plow Naming Contest, continuing an annual tradition that celebrates community creativity and winter spirit.
Inspired by similar initiatives across Canada, the contest is once again presented in partnership with sponsor Winmar. Organizers say the program has grown into a well-loved local event over the past four years, with several winning names even gaining national attention during Hockey Night in Canada.
The contest gives residents the opportunity to bring a sense of fun to the winter season while leaving a lasting mark on Chatham-Kent’s snow-clearing fleet. Municipal officials say they are looking forward to seeing the clever, witty and original names submitted by the community this year.
As the 2026 contest gets underway, the municipality thanked residents for their continued enthusiasm and support, noting that the creativity and camaraderie shown each year have helped make the initiative a standout success. Updates will be shared as the search begins for the next round of snow plow names.
