Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 62-year-old Chatham man is facing multiple charges following a knife-related incident at a business on Park Avenue East.
Chatham-Kent police say officers responded to a 911 hang-up call at the business shortly after 5 p.m. on Feb. 1, 2026. Investigators allege a verbal altercation escalated, during which the accused threatened individuals with a knife and chased one person outside the building.
Officers located the man outside the business, and a search resulted in the seizure of multiple knives. As a result of the investigation, police laid charges including assault, uttering threats to cause death, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The accused was transported to police headquarters, where he remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
