OPP officials allege: The Essex County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a residential fire in Leamington that resulted in a fatality.
Police say officers and members of the Leamington Fire Department were called to a home on Seacliff Drive West shortly after 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026. One person was located inside the residence and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
Investigators say there are no concerns for public safety at this time. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the OPP crime unit, with assistance from the Office of the Fire Marshal.
