Two adults assaulted outside Sarnia convenience store

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Police responded to an assault at Confederation Street and Emma Street shortly before midnight on January 30. Two adults, aged 27 and 30, had been at a convenience store when a group in a white pickup truck began berating them and calling them names. The incident reportedly started after the victims purchased hot dogs.

Although no direct threats were made, the vehicle followed the victims as they walked away. During the altercation, drink cups were thrown, striking the victims and soaking them with liquid.

Police later stopped a white pickup truck matching the description of the suspects and determined the occupants were involved in the incident. The driver, 19, was arrested. Further investigation revealed the young driver was in breach of release conditions from a previous matter, as another person in the vehicle was someone they were not permitted to associate with.

The driver was held for bail on charges of two counts of assault and failure to comply with undertaking. They were subsequently released by the courts with conditions.
