Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 47-year-old Chatham man has been arrested following an assault investigation involving a woman.
Chatham-Kent police say officers responded to a report of an assault on Jan. 31, 2026, involving a 48-year-old female victim and a male accused, both from Chatham. Investigators allege the incident occurred while the two were seated in a vehicle, where a verbal dispute escalated into a physical assault.
Police say the victim required additional medical attention and was transported to hospital. Following the investigation, a charge of assault was laid and a warrant issued for the accused’s arrest.
On Feb. 1, 2026, shortly after 1:15 p.m., officers located the man on Junction Avenue in Chatham and arrested him on the outstanding warrant. He was transported to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a court date of March 16, 2026.
