Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A two-month investigation by the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit has led to the arrest of a Chatham man in connection with a series of motor vehicle thefts across the municipality.
Police say officers used a variety of investigative methods to identify a suspect believed to be responsible for multiple incidents. On Feb. 4, 2026, a 22-year-old man from Chatham was located and arrested.
Following the arrest, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Chatham-Kent. As a result of the investigation, the man was charged with three counts of theft of a motor vehicle, four counts of possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, and one count of possession contrary to a prohibition order.
He was transported to the South West Detention Centre, where he was remanded into custody pending a video court appearance scheduled for Feb. 9, 2026.
Police are reminding residents to remain vigilant and take steps to protect their vehicles, including locking doors, removing valuables and parking in well-lit areas.
