Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 25-year-old London man faces impaired driving charges following a motor vehicle collision in Chatham.
On Feb. 7, 2026, at approximately 2:12 a.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a collision on Colborne Street. Police determined a vehicle had lost control and become stuck in a snowbank.
Officers arrived a short time later and observed the vehicle facing westbound in the snowbank. Police noted a strong odour of alcohol and signs of impairment from the driver, who was arrested for impaired operation.
The accused was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol. He was transported to police headquarters for additional breath testing, which he refused, resulting in an additional charge of failure or refusal to comply with a demand. Due to concerns about his health, he was taken to hospital for further medical assistance and was later released unconditionally.
